Jerry Five is a small, independent index of hotels in four categories.

What the site is

Eleven hotels, four categories. That is the whole index, and keeping it that size is deliberate. A short list can be read end to end, and every entry can be checked properly.

The categories are narrow on purpose. Art hotels here are buildings worth seeing in their own right. Capsule hotels are about small, efficient sleeping space. Casino hotels are written up as hotels first. The ice hotel entry is the one that started the idea.

How it is written

Each entry is plain prose about what a hotel is like and where it stands. Facts are kept general and are checked against what the properties publish about themselves. When something could not be confirmed, it was left out.

No hotel pays to be included, and none has seen its entry before publication. There are no ratings, no scores and no booking links.

Who runs it

A small editorial team maintains the index and updates it when hotels change hands, close or reopen. Corrections are welcome through the contact page.
