Expo 67 left these buildings behind. The property occupies the former French and Quebec pavilions on Île Notre-Dame, across the St. Lawrence from downtown Montreal.

As a place to stay, it is an island address surrounded by parkland. The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, the old Olympic rowing basin and long waterside paths are all close by. Restaurants, bars and a performance space fill much of the building; the gaming floor is one part of the mix.

The architecture brings many visitors on its own. The aluminium lattice of the former French pavilion is still easy to pick out from across the water.

Rooms here are sold on the view. The hotel tower rises from the ridge above the Horseshoe Falls, and it is angled so that many rooms face the river and the mist.

At its base there is a spa, a run of shops, several restaurants and a theatre that books touring acts. The gaming floor belongs to the complex without taking it over.

Plenty of guests use it simply as a base for the falls. The Niagara Parkway and the boats heading into the gorge are a short walk downhill.

Richmond lies between Vancouver and its airport, and River Rock sits right on that line. The resort faces the Fraser River with a marina beside it, and a Canada Line station nearby makes downtown an easy ride.

The hotel has a range of rooms and suites, an indoor pool and a theatre used for concerts and comedy. Gaming occupies one part of the property.

Being this close to YVR, it often serves as a first or last night in the region. Flights early, check-out late, river out the window.

Lake Couchiching is minutes away. Casino Rama Resort stands on the lands of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, close to Orillia and roughly ninety minutes north of Toronto by car.

Its hotel tower, spa and entertainment centre bring people up for whole weekends. The concert venue books large touring names, and the gaming floor is one feature among several.

Around it is cottage country. Lakes, marinas and Orillia's waterfront fill the rest of the map.
